SYLK x Discotekken // Wah Wah Club // 30TH APRIL // we are super excited to announce that on this day we will be releasing our EP ‘nwyr’. We are so honoured to collaborate with Discotekken for our launch. The night will involve a live performance of ‘nwyr’ and dj sets by Discotekken. We’ve had some of our favourite nights out at Discotekken events over the years and to be working creatively with them for the last few weeks on this project has been surreal. Everyone who attends our Launch can stay for Woweembeem directly afterwards, running until 3am. “It’s Discotekken’s new party focussing on afrobeat, latin & rare grooves from the ’70s, ’80s and beyond. Papa Lou will be digging deep to keep everyone dancing all night.” MUSIC. INSTALLATIONS. SMOKE. GLITTER. WAREHOUSE VIBES. We are living for this night and you wont want to miss it, we hope to see you all there and thank you for your continous support.
we cannot believe this! thank you very much for the support Nialler9, we really appreciate it. we found this news out as we were rehearsing for our show for F-Festival and we all started jumping up and down.
“NEW ARTIST OF THE WEEK
Producer Bebhinn Mc Donnell vocalist and Taylor Doyle have hit on a sound that’s murky, electronic and pop on their debut single Am I Alone. It’s broodingly effective.”
we are seriously honoured to of been featured on Nialler9’s website, New Irish Music Spotify Playlist and to have our debut single described as a ‘a brooding electronic track with pitched vocals that rolls around like a cross between Massive Attack and FKA Twigs. It’s only the beginning but there’s very much more to come from SYLK.’
so much love to you.
massive thanks to Conor Behan from RTÉ 2FM for the ‘am i alone’ radio plays on his show! his first play of ‘am i alone’ on 2FM was our first time on the radio, so surreal // and massive thanks to Today FM’s John Barker for featuring ‘am i alone’ on Today FM’s Totally Irish and the shoutout for our gig at We-Bloom.
Our debut single ‘am i alone’ is featured in 3 CRAIC tracks of the week // be sure to check out their website, they do lots of super sweet stuff.
We caught up with GCN for an interview about our influences and plans for SYLK. thank you for this feature GCN we love your site and magazine! //
“We showcase our music with strong visual treatments including light installations and abstract projections, this is an integral part of the SYLK identity.
“We draw inspiration from art forms outside of music, especially visual arts, sculpture, fashion and dance. Musically, we are inspired every day in every genre, from electro acoustic experimental new music to pop to world music.
“Drawing on lived experiences, we created our signature sound and carved our aesthetics through iterations of extensive experimentation. Our sound is bass heavy, distorted, rhythmic, cinematic and lyrically dark. (Quote from Interview)
